1 - Leave the car, take the bike

🚲

2 - Buy local, help the economy

🍋

Want to organize a picnic with a local flavour? From Domaine Saint-Thomas to Domaine de la Mer Blanche, find what you’re looking for from our local producers.

Welcome

3 - Thou shalt not venture off the beaten track

✋🏾
In Argelès-sur-Mer, all roads lead to hiking… or almost! From the Tour de la Massane to the Sentier du Littoral, our hiking trails are open to all. As long as you stay on the right path. Venturing closer to nature also means respecting its limits. And touching with your eyes!

Are you more the type to follow the beaten track? Starting out from the Parc de Valmy, choose your itinerary in the fresh air and become an unrivalled walker!

4 - Don't throw your garbage into nature

🚮
Whether on a hike or by the water, there are a thousand and one ways to enjoy the Argelès-sur-Mer landscape. And to take care of it! Picnics and strolls are the order of the day here, but that doesn’t mean littering. Cigarette butts, empty bottles and used packaging have no place on the sand or grass. Please be vigilant!

5 - Stroll the streets, don't visit the locals

🏠
From the village to the beach, the area invites you to stroll at your own pace. In the old town, the colorful facades make you want to lose yourself in the narrow streets. And don’t forget the sandy houses of Le Racou, which make visitors fall in love. Be careful, however, to respect local homes.

6 - Watch your consumption, protect the planet

💡
On vacation, and all year round, it’s important to keep an eye on your water and electricity consumption. Whether you’re camping, staying in a hotel or a guest house, remember to use showers rather than baths, and don’t leave lights on in the middle of the day. These gestures may seem trivial to you, but they are vitally important!

 7 - Discover the off-season

🍂
Summer on the Catalan coast is all about excitement, buzz and crowds. While the summer season lends itself perfectly to a vacation in Argelès-sur-Mer, it’s also worth opting for other periods. Autumn, winter or spring: the region reveals its many facets throughout the year. A good excuse to discover them all!

8 - Respect biodiversity and protect the marine park

💦
The Mediterranean hides a biodiversity as exceptional as it is fragile. Argelès-sur-Mer is home to the Gulf of Lion Natural Marine Park, France’s third largest. To protect our waters, there are a few simple things you can do. When you’re diving or snorkeling in the sea, be sure to paddle gently and respect organized anchorages. On the beach, remember to apply environmentally-friendly sunscreen. Small gestures, big impact!

 9 - Thou shalt avoid single-use packaging

🧺
As well as being polluting, plastic is anything but practical. In Argelès-sur-Mer we prefer to swap the water bottle for a reusable gourd. Whether you’re refreshing yourself at the water’s edge or out hiking, it’s a must-have for your vacations. And don’t forget the tote bag or wicker basket for shopping. Even better if they carry the local colors!

10 - Touching preserved places with your eyes

🌿
The region abounds in nature reserves. Starting with Mas Larrieu, which stretches along both sides of the River Tech. Between dunes, marshes and forests, the area is home to incredible biodiversity. A wild site to be explored with caution and moderation!

Fancy a guided tour? Consider the option of a guided nature walk. It’s an opportunity to discover the reserve from a different angle, accompanied by an expert who will help you learn more about its preservation.
